Like many other visitor attractions in this area Sal's Wartburg Inn has a firm stake in Monroe County's German heritage. This restored 1881 stage coach stop half way between Maeystown and Waterloo features steaks, fish, chicken, pasta and a signature salad.At the same time, Sal's has a right to some modern celebrity. Owners Sheri and Vito Stallone claim Sylvester Stallone (of "Rocky" and "Rambo" fame) as a relative, and rumor has it that Sly can, on occasion, be found sampling the cuisine at the inn.
